Aetna/Humana Merger Blocked, Appeal Unlikely to be Successful

Although an appeal has been filed on the decision to block the $37million merger between Aetna and Humana, its success is doubtful. Physician billers and revenue cycle management professional have been closely watching this case unfold. It was determined that the merger, which was blocked on antitrust grounds, would be harmful to the consumer, reducing the number of options available, specifically in Medicare Advantage plans. Even with the new Trump Administration pledging to reduce regulations, they are unlikely to have any impact on the outcome of the appeal.
